The film is also confirmed for an upcoming release on Tubi, with additional streaming platforms, international territories and release dates to be announced.

SAVAGE PREY CONTINUES ITS US FESTIVAL RUN

Following its world premiere on 9 August 2026 at the Popcorn Frights Film Festival, Savage Prey continues its international festival journey with a screening on Thursday, 22 October 2026, the opening day of the 22nd annual LA Femme International Film Festival in Los Angeles, California.

Taking place from 22–25 October at Regal Cinemas in the Sherman Oaks Galleria, LA Femme celebrates independent filmmaking and the contributions of women across the international entertainment industry.

The festival appearance marks another milestone for the Scottish independent production, led by Marta Svetek in a physically and emotionally demanding role as a mother forced into a desperate fight for survival.

A MOTHER'S SEARCH BECOMES A FIGHT FOR SURVIVAL

A year after her son mysteriously disappears in the Scottish Highlands, a grieving mother returns to the place it all began, determined to uncover the truth.

What begins as a desperate search for answers becomes a terrifying struggle for survival as she ventures deeper into the wilderness, unaware that something has been waiting for her.

At the centre of the film is Ava, portrayed by Marta Svetek, whose determination to find her missing son forces her to confront unimaginable dangers.

MARTA SVETEK LEADS THE CAST

Svetek is internationally recognised for her voice performances as Gregory, Roxanne Wolf and Vanny in the hugely popular Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach video game, alongside her work in  VALORANT and other major gaming franchises.

In Savage Prey, she takes on a physically and emotionally demanding leading role, portraying a mother struggling with grief, isolation and a relentless threat to her survival.

Svetek also served as an executive producer, contributing creatively to the production and post-production process.

INDEPENDENT FILMMAKING IN THE SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS

Written, directed, photographed and edited by David Ryan Keith, Savage Prey was filmed across remote locations in the Scottish Highlands.

The production faced unpredictable weather conditions during its 18-day shoot, including the arrival of Storm Amy, which brought severe weather and fallen trees to parts of Scotland.

Despite the challenges, the production completed its filming schedule without losing a day.

Keith, whose previous films include The Redwood Massacre, Redwood Massacre: Annihilation, I Am Rage and Primal Games, wanted the Highland landscape to become an essential part of the film's atmosphere.

DIRECTOR'S VISION: HORROR BEYOND THE MASK

For writer and director David Ryan Keith, Savage Prey was conceived as more than a conventional survival horror film. At its centre is a story about grief, guilt and a mother's refusal to abandon hope, even when that determination places her in unimaginable danger.

"Savage Prey began with the idea of placing an ordinary person in an extraordinary situation and asking how far they would go when driven by grief, guilt and the belief that someone they love may still be out there. At its heart, the film is about a mother who refuses to let go, even when that determination begins to place her in terrible danger."

The film's remote Highland setting was equally important to Keith's vision, transforming the natural landscape into an integral part of the psychological tension.

"The Scottish Highlands were essential to the film. The landscape is beautiful, but it can also feel vast, isolated and unforgiving. We wanted the environment to become part of the threat, surrounding Ava with open space while still making her feel completely trapped."

Keith's intention was to create a thriller that combines the physical intensity of survival horror with a deeply personal emotional journey, allowing audiences to experience Ava's fear, exhaustion and determination alongside her.

DISTRIBUTION AND INTERNATIONAL RELEASE

Following its festival appearances, Savage Prey is preparing for wider distribution through Terror Films, an independent US distributor specialising in horror and genre cinema.

The film is confirmed for an upcoming release on Tubi, the free streaming platform, with further distribution announcements expected as additional streaming platforms and international territories are finalised.

The distribution agreement represents another international release for Scottish filmmaker David Ryan Keith, whose independent productions have reached audiences across North America and international streaming platforms.

Official streaming release dates will be announced in due course.
