The Original Audio Diaries

What really happened behind the scenes of Primal Games?

During the production of the $250,000 sci-fi action film Primal Games in the Scottish Highlands, First Assistant Director Richard John Currie began recording personal audio diaries as the challenges of the shoot unfolded.

What started as a way of documenting his experiences eventually became hundreds of recordings - and inspired his book, Lights, Camera, Anarchy: How I Survived the Film Shoot From Hell!

Now, Richard's original diaries have been edited into individual shooting days, capturing the frustration, humour, exhaustion and extraordinary challenges of independent filmmaking as he experienced them.

Listen to the recordings that inspired the book. Follow the production, day by day. And decide for yourself what to make of it.

These recordings reflect Richard's personal experiences and recollections. Other members of the production may have different perspectives.
